“Closing a deal takes collaboration across the globe.”

What tasks do you typically handle on a daily basis?
I work with sales and purchasing for one of our largest customers – currently in outdoor, meaning garden furniture and related items. My job involves direct contact with the customer’s buyers. Together with my colleagues, I inspire the customer by developing new products, and then we at Tradepoint manage the entire process from sales until the products are available in stores almost a year later. In addition, there are the more hardcore negotiations, where the customer’s existing products are tendered among several suppliers – and of course, we also compete for those.

My everyday work is a mix of meetings with the customer and communication via phone and email. A large part of my time is also spent coordinating with suppliers and colleagues in Asia, as well as with departments in Denmark. On average, I travel 50–60 days a year, primarily to Asia, but also to suppliers in Europe or in connection with trade fairs and similar events.

What is your background?
I knew early on that I wanted to work with business and negotiation. I studied Cand. Negot. in business, language, and culture, and have worked for many years in international trade, sales, and purchasing. Since 2018, I’ve been part of Tradepoint.

What is the best thing about your job?
It’s closing the deal – I am, after all, a salesperson. But for that to succeed, many things need to come together, and it requires close collaboration between departments and people – both in Denmark and Asia. We’re not afraid to challenge each other to improve, and we speak our minds, knowing we’ll be heard. It’s also important to me that there’s freedom and responsibility given to the individual.

What makes Tradepoint a good place to work?
The teamwork and collaboration – both within my own team and across the company. We have a strong community, good relationships, and valuable sparring across departments. It’s professionally exciting, but also fun and enjoyable to be here.

What would you say to others considering applying for a job here?
Do it – no doubt about it! It’s a great company with great people. The pace is high, and we work both to solve things here and now and to improve the way we do things. There’s a strong focus on people and a genuine desire to involve everyone.

Can you share a fun or memorable experience from a business trip?
When I first started, I traveled to Asia with our then owner to explore new business opportunities. It was both fun and a completely different time, when we often made quick deals. Today, the requirements are stricter and the processes longer – which places new and exciting demands on us as salespeople.
